New Governors Bay Brochure Underway!

Work has begun to produce a new walking brochure for the Governors Bay area and Suky and Sue recently spent a day scouting out the Bay to gather information.  Their next excursion to the area will be to look at the historic sites and buildings so they can be included in a ‘heritage trail’ walk around town.

Ōhinetahi Bush Reserve will be another feature in the brochure, and with its many tracks and spectacular scenery this Summit Road Society owned and managed reserve is a very popular drawcard to the area. Although some sections were damaged in the 2017 Port Hills fires it is exciting to see the difference that the replanting programme has already made in bringing about regeneration to these areas.

Governors Bay provides a great day out, with the opportunity to combine your walking with a swim, picnic or something tasty at one of the local cafes when you have finished!

The brochure is due to be launched in conjunction with the Banks Peninsula Walking Festival in November. If anyone has any great photos of people walking in the area that could go on the brochure cover then let us know! Email your photos to manager@roddonaldtrust.co.nz

Plans are underway to restore the lovely historic jetty after it was damaged in the 2011 earthquakes

The coastal track is an easy stroll, with beautiful beaches and bays to explore along the way.
