Securing public access on Te Ara Pātaka

The Rod Donald Trust has been working to secure public access on the whole Te Ara Pataka track network. Most of the track is on unformed legal roads or DOC reserves but in some places it crosses private land. We were delighted to purchase a 21 hectare block of land on the southern side of Mt Bradley from a private land owner securing another important track section.   The property is now owned by the Department of Conservation and the area will be managed as a scenic reserve.  With a lovely gully of regenerating bush to walk through we are thankful to the land owner who has worked alongside the Trust to make this project possible, and ensure that the public can enjoy this beautiful area in perpetuity.
