Montgomery Reserve Track Maintenance

Yes, we have done the maths and 19 bags weighing 850kgs each means that over 16 tonnes of shingle was delivered by helicopter to Montgomery Reserve this week.

With two men hooking on the bags from a landing site and two more unloading at the marked locations along the track work progressed quickly, although as the wind increased the helicopter pilot did comment that it was one of the most difficult locations he had ever had to drop items in to.

The track maintenance is being done as a joint project between the Rod Donald Trust and DOC, and the big job now will be spreading the shingle on various track sections along the way. Steffan Kraberger and his team from WOOD Ltd will be working to accomplish this over the next few days.

A slightly different view than normal from the lookout point!
