We pay tribute to kaumatua Peter Te Rangihīroa Ramsden and mark his passing with a deep sadness. Peter assisted the Rod Donald Trust greatly in its early years, sharing with us his knowledge of Te Reo place names to include on our maps of Banks Peninsula/Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū, and helping to find an appropriate Te Reo name Te Ara Pātaka for the Summit Walkway. We honour his many contributions toward conservation and the environment on Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū and his fruitful collaborations with community groups. We send our sympathies to the people of Koukourarata and to his family. A mighty tōtara has indeed fallen.
