Track improvements on Te Ara Pātaka in Montgomery Reserve were recently tested out and appreciated by Akaroa’s “Women Out Walking” group. Being a group of experienced walkers who have traversed this walk before they were impressed by the ease with which they can now ascend and descend the natural looking steps, created by the hardworking duo Steffan Kraberger and Bruce King.
Last week the Trust’s local contractors David Brailsford and Steffan Kraberger were hard at work improving the waymarking near the Packhorse when a large group of school children came past. The children had been dropped at Gebbies Pass and were heading down to Orton Bradley for their school camp. It was great for David and Steffan to see the track being used for what was probably the first tramping experience for many of these children.
