Orton Bradley Park Partnership

Orton Bradley Park at Charteris Bay in Lyttelton harbour provides an excellent match with the Trust’s strategic goals for greater access, knowledge and biodiversity. The Park has 650ha of beautiful grounds featuring streamside picnic areas, nature walks, low key camping, protected native bush and heritage buildings available to the public for a small entrance fee. The Park is owned and managed by a private charitable trust and receives relatively little in the way of public funding, and hence it needs to generate sufficient income to cover its costs. The Rod Donald Banks Peninsula Trust and Orton Bradley Park have now formed a partnership, with the Trust providing three years of support for the Park’s day to day operations enabling its manager to focus on researching and then developing appropriate new attractions and marketing to lift visitor numbers. The Trust will work with the Park Board and manager as this process develops. In the meantime, we highly recommend a trip to explore Orton Bradley Park –check their website on www.ortonbradley.co.nz.
