As part of this year’s Rod Donald Hut annual maintenance our Hut Manager David Brailsford has been busy installing a new wood burner. This more modern version will provide greater fuel efficiency and also allow for a larger cooking surface than the old pot belly stove.
David has also been busy stockpiling over 2,000kgs of shingle, with plans underway to resurface sections of the hut track over the warmer months. Many thanks to DOC for the loan of a ‘Muck Truck’ powered wheelbarrow to assist with ferrying the bulk supplies up and down the length of the track – this will be a huge help!
