New Governors Bay Walking Brochure launched!

The Rod Donald Trust was delighted to launch its new Governors Bay walking brochure in November, in conjunction with the Banks Peninsula Walking Festivals Guides Appreciation dinner.

The brochure outlines five walks, all starting and finishing in the village itself, providing the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely break once walking is completed at one of the local cafes or parks.

Enjoy a ‘Seashore Stroll’ walking the track to Sandy Bay or Maori Gardens, or take the ‘Foreshore Track’ in the opposite direction around to Allandale Reserve. The ‘Governors Bay Heritage Trail’ gives you the opportunity to enjoy the local history of the area, viewing many heritage buildings and sites along the way. For the more adventurous there are two loop walks that will take you through the Ōhinetahi Reserve, with spectacular views down Lyttelton Harbour as you climb high above the village.

The brochure is available to purchase from the Lyttelton Information Centre.

The Summit Road Society also launched their updated Ōhinetahi Reserve brochure at the Dinner. Copies of the brochure can be obtained from CCC service centres, visitor centres and other popular locations around the Port Hills . For more information you can also visit their website

Take the opportunity to enjoy walking in this beautiful location over the summer!
