Kennedy’s Bush Track re-opens

Walkers and mountain bikers were delighted that Kennedy’s Bush Track re-opened on Easter Sunday having been closed for over a year since the Port Hills fires in February 2017.  The track crossed an area of burnt forest that needed to be removed. When progress slowed, and the temporary closure repeatedly extended, the Trust joined with recreationalists to urge the Council to ensure the work was completed in a timely fashion. We join them in thanking the landowner, contractors and Council for opening the track without a further extension. Walkers and bikers celebrated the opening of the last Port Hills track to be re-opened since the fire with joy and got out on the hills in style.  See more information on the Kennedy’s Bush Track Network facebook page.
