Governors Bay Jetty reopens!

We were delighted to hear that the iconic Governors Bay jetty has now reopened after more than a decade. It was badly damaged by the 2011 Canterbury earthquakes, but a huge fundraising effort from the dedicated local community enabled the repair of the 149 year old, 300m long jetty.

Hundreds of people attended the reopening ceremony, and we were finally able to view our ‘donated plank’, which had been gifted on behalf of our retiring Chair at the time, Simon Mortlock. Simon was not only a founding Trustee of the Rod Donald Trust, but played a significant role in the ‘Save the Jetty’ campaign.
