Building Environmental Stewards of the Future with Sustainable Long Distance Trails was the topic discussed with U3A (University of the Third Age) members at a recent lecture as part of their Banks Peninsula series. Trust Manager Suky Thompson presented evidence supporting this hypothesis and explained how the Te Ara Pataka project carried out jointly with DOC is putting this idea into practice. Latest statistics from Rod Donald Hut certainly indicate that the target groups of young people are getting out and enjoying experience, but there are still many practical steps ahead before the Trust can assess its progress on this lofty aspiration!
