Our Trustee Piper Pengelly enjoyed visiting the Youthtown group who were staying at the Rod Donald Hut in April. Visiting the hut was a first-time experience of an overnight hut stay for most of the young people in the group and they had a great time making smores, encountering wildlife, and playing spotlight after dark. They were also one of the first group of visitors to enjoy the newly constructed Te Ara Māhuri Nature Trail and exploring the trail was a great opportunity to interact with nature and learn about the importance of native regeneration. Piper also shared the goals and vision for what our Trust is working to achieve. The Trust was delighted to support Youthtown in exploring this corner of Banks Peninsula and enable a better understanding of the great outdoor opportunities that are right at our doorstep.
