Janis Haley was delighted to have the opportunity to tour the Godley Head Military Museum as part of this year’s Walking Festival but was in for a big surprise when she discovered that one of the giant murals on the site was actually of her Mother! Janis knew her Mother had worked there as a radio operator during World War II but was unaware that a mural had been created depicting her.
The Festival walkers also had the opportunity to see inside the Antarctic Hut at Godley Head, with David Crichton sharing the story about its relocation, and the part his family had played in that.
