Rod Donald Hut update

The hut was a hive of activity for annual maintenance week in October with our manager David Brailsford undertaking a long list of tasks, including sanding and resurfacing the wooden tabletops from the kitchen area. Three year old Pearson seems to be following in his grandfather Davids footsteps, and did a sterling job moping the entire top bunkroom for us!

Te Ara Māhuri Nature Trail is proving to be very popular, with most of the 100 field guides we printed for children having already been used. The luminescent markers mean the trail can be explored by torch light at night, and David’s recent inspection proved the track had held up really well over the winter months, despite heavy rainfall and wind events.

We have been undertaking annual spot planting on the property as well, mostly on the open grassland area below the hut, and its great to see these natives getting well established.
