The Trust enjoyed a field trip to Orton Bradley Park to see the progress made since entering into a partnership arrangement in 2013. We were impressed by the high standard of maintenance and many new facilities including the improved outdoor recreation centre, camping area, playground, mountain bike tracks and the re-opened historic stone cottage. Thanks to chair Simon Martin and manager Ian Luxford for taking the time to guide us around and discuss the future.
Orton Bradley Park provides a wonderful place for families wanting to introduce young children to the great outdoors, and then later to extend their experiences with a tramp to the Packhorse Hut. Two tracks starting in the park connect to the Te Ara Pātaka tramp along the summit ridgeline, making it the perfect place to start an overnight loop trip.
