Little River Rail Trail is being electrified for its 20th anniversary!

With e-bikes continuing to grow in popularity around New Zealand we were delighted to secure $180,000 from the Government’s Electrifying the Great Rides (EGR) Fund to install three free to use charging stations on the Little River Rail Trail. Many thanks to ‘Big Street Bikers’ who will oversee the installation of the ‘Locky Dock’ units, with each station providing both charging and secure bike locking for five users. This will make the trail accessible to more users, with two stations being installed at Lincoln and one station at the Little River end.

Once the charging stations are in place, electric bike riders on the 65km Little River Rail Trail, that stretches from Cathedral Square in Christchurch to Little River, will be able to top up their batteries while having lunch, taking a stroll through Little River’s art gallery, or even during an overnight stay.
