Trust Manager Suky Thompson met with the new Banks Peninsula Community Board at a workshop on April 10 and gave a presentation to update recently elected members on the Trust’s work, its main achievements since its inception in 2010, and a brief summary of direction for the coming years ahead.
Later that morning Suky was joined by Akaroa District Promotions manager Hollie Hollander to ask the Community Board to support the 2017 Banks Peninsula walking festival. Planning for this has begun and the steering committee from Rod Donald Trust, Akaroa District Promotions, Project Lyttelton and Little River Wairewa Community Trust aim to have a fire prevention and recovery theme to walks this year, as well as re-running some old favourites and introducing some new walks.
