The Rod Donald Banks Peninsula Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of Shelley Washington as its new manager. With a strong background in strategic and partnership management Shelley brings a great depth of knowledge and experience to the role, especially in the area of ecological restoration and sustainability.
After a selection process overseen by Brannigans Consulting Ltd Shelley’s skill set was assessed as the best fit for the Trust’s future needs, to ensure success promoting public access and biodiversity on Banks Peninsula.
“With so many high level candidates applying for the role it was a difficult decision for the Board, but Shelley’s project experience, facilitation skills and broad management background make her ideally suited for the position” Trust Co-Chair Richard Suggate said. “Through past roles involving Environment Canterbury and local Councils, Shelley has forged relationships with many Peninsula organisations which will be hugely beneficial in her new role.”
Co-Chairs Jenn Chowaniec and Richard Suggate say that Shelley’s values strongly align with the Trusts vision, and the combination of both her relationship and managerial skills will fit well with the team approach the Trust upholds.
Shelley enjoys the great outdoors, including tramping and water sports. She is looking forward to getting out and about on Banks Peninsula in her role developing outdoor recreation and conservation initiatives in the area.
Shelley will take up the position of Manager on 15 January 2024.
