You know you must be doing something right when 70 people attend your AGM on a wet and windy night and everyone is happy! Congratulation to Banks Peninsula Conservation Trust for running an excellent panel discussion on the hot topic of Pest Free Banks Peninsula – one of the eight goals of their Ecological Vision. Panel members Andrew Turner (Christchurch Deputy Mayor and Rod Donald Trustee), Andrew McCarthy (Principal Sponsor G.J. Gardner homes), Max Curnow (Rod Donald Trust sponsored summer scholar researching the topic, Rt Hon Nicky Wagner (Associate Minister for Conservation) and Andrea Byrom (Director NZ Biological Heritage National Science Challenge) did a great job tackling the difficult questions of how to get community engagement and the role of emerging technologies in pest free projects.
